Does Hypnotherapy Over Skype Work?
A woman in Texas who has a difficulty of removing sugar from her daily diet recently underwent a hypnosis program via Skype for her to completely forget sugar to be part of her diet, an article of Click2Houston reported on March 6.
According to reports, attorney Gloria Godsey not only freed herself from excessive sugar intake, she also had a relief from recurring pain, ringing in her ears, and stress. Godsey reportedly underwent a “strategy” offered by a professional in hospitals to aid patients in altering their perception with sugar. The program uses hypnosis instead of cleansing, fasting, or calorie counting. The latter part of the program will include giving patients healthy food alternatives. Godsey, who claimed that her life was saved, told reports that her sugar habit was broken in less than a month and that she feels great.
A New York columnist, Katie Heaney, also tried Skype as a delivery method in hopes of alleviating generalized anxiety for which she took Prozak and attended regular therapy. After her session she states “It’s true: I went into hypnosis as a nonbeliever, and it worked on me anyway. This is not to say that I no longer suffer from anxiety, but that I felt, for the rest of the day after my session, as though I had taken a Xanax. Only I hadn’t.”
Remote tele-video conferencing for hypnosis, hypnotherapy and substance counseling is popular since it offers our clients a face to face session of hypnosis while they are in the privacy and comfort of their own home, giving them an enhanced sense of control over the process. People sometimes feel more relaxed in their own environment instead of an office environment. This can be especially helpful for those who lack self confidence and need help but may not have the ability to go to someone, such as agoraphobics, shut ins, and those with eating disorders or problematic compulsive habits who need “in the moment” support.
In this tough situation that you want to fight a bad habit or simply improve yourself, working with a professional hypnotherapist may be the best way if other self-help programs do not work for you.
